All One Body

Corinthians 12:14 ESV

14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many.

Have you ever strived to be like someone else? Have you ever wished you had a better talent? Especially with social media as available as it is today, it’s easier than ever to want to be like someone else. When it comes to the gifts and talents God gives us, we sometimes do the same thing. I know when I hear a beautiful voice singing gospel music, I wish I had a voice that could serve the Lord in the same way. Or how fulfilling must it be to be that speaker who moves thousands to be saved?

God didn’t make us to be anyone but who we truly are. He wants us to live out the gifts and talents unique to us. Maybe the talent is musical, speaking, being a leader, or maybe it’s something a little less glamorous. But each gift works together for God’s purpose. It’s what makes the body of Christ work so well as a collective. We need each part and we can’t all be good at one thing because then not all purposes and goals will be met.

Corinthians 12:21-26 says this…

(21) The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” (22) On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, (23) and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty, (24) which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it, (25) that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. (26) If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.

Closing Thoughts:

Maybe you know exactly what your talent is. Maybe you don’t. Take some time to think about what God has given you specifically.

Ephesians 2:10 ESV

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
