Blessings

Numbers 6:24-26 KJV

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

When David took something that belonged to someone else, this was God’s response:

“I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more.” (2 Samuel 12:8 KJV).

Doesn’t it sound as if God was hurt that David didn’t come to Him first? God would’ve gladly given him the desires of his heart. Sometimes we become discontent when we see something we do not have. Or perhaps more like distracted. I know it’s easy for me to see something on TV or something someone else has and, suddenly, I become David. We might forget all that the Lord has already given us, just as David did, and go after something that is not in His will for our lives. It can be hard when temptation strikes, but we can be assured that God knows the best things for us when we stay in our own lanes and give our desires to Him in prayer.

For those that serve Him, God wants to give the best gifts. He wants to show off what He will do for His children that love Him. He knows what we need better than we do. Matthew 7:11 (KJV) says… “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

Based off these scriptures, we know that we can turn to the Lord asking Him for the desires in our heart. It may surprise us what He brings, but we can trust it is better than what we had planned.
