Hallelujah He Reigns

Psalm 93:1-5

The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt. Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved. 2 Your throne is established from of old; you are from everlasting. 3 The floods have lifted up, O Lord, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their roaring. 4 Mightier than the thunders of many waters, mightier than the waves of the sea, the Lord on high is mighty! 5 Your decrees are very trustworthy; holiness befits your house,

O Lord, forevermore.

If ever there was ever a better time to rejoice in our Lord, it is now! God is on the move and He is in control. How blessed are we to be given assurance that nothing can happen without the will of God allowing it to happen! Psalm 47:8 reassures us that “God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne.”

It was truly a challenging time during the early part of 2000, when religious liberties were being challenged and our freedom to worship publicly was slipping away. It seemed all hope was lost, yet God brought a light to preserve our rights to worship publicly and to guide the direction of our great nation. We rejoiced in God’s sovereign watch over His people. Psalm 93:1 reminds us that “The Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty; The Lord has clothed and girded Himself with strength; Indeed, the world is firmly established, it will not be moved.”

I'm particularly fascinated by Hezekiah's story because it illustrates that God is moved by our prayers. All that we petition God for may not receive replies as Hezekiah's did, but they are answered nonetheless, and on this day the Lord's reply was, "I heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; indeed, I will heal you." 2 Kings 20:5.

God will heal our nation, He will heal our land, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

There are times when God allows us to experience spiritual darkness allowing us time to examine our hearts to see what life without Him could be. As the story in Daniel declares, “But at the end of that period, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever; For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, And His kingdom endures from generation to generation.” 4:34

Closing thoughts:

The Bible is filled with stories of God’s people experiencing times of great freedom and times of extreme oppression and hardship. God has never left us nor has He forsaken us and He promises to be with us throughout eternity. Deuteronomy 31:6 reminds us... Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Psalm 146:10

The Lord will reign forever,

Your God, O Zion, to all generations.

Praise the Lord.
