Matthew 16:24 (NKJV)
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.

Some decisions are pretty easy in life. We probably can decide upon what to have for lunch with little commitment to that decision. We can even decide to make a fairly large purchase without too much time and consideration. Some decisions we make, however, are not as simple. When we decide to follow Christ, it is not a one-time decision we can take lightly. Instead, we have to make the conscious decision to follow the Lord each and every day.
No Days Off
I am a New England Patriots fan and will be until the Lord brings me home. One of the things coach Bill Belichick has said in the past is that there are “no days off.” I love that idea, completely dedicated to the goal. At work, I am a person that takes very little time off, sometimes to my discredit. That has to be our mindset when it comes to walking with the Lord, there should be no days off.
Wake Up To Decision Time
We wake up to at least one decision we must make each day, are we going to follow Jesus or not? God did not make us to be robots that follow protocol and can be programmed to act a certain way, He has allows us to make our own decisions. Each morning as we wake up, it may not be a conscious decision, it may not be something you have to actively consider, but we do decide each day whether to follow Jesus’ commandments or not. The decision is vitally important.
Everyone Is Watching
We must consider that God wants everyone to come to a saving knowledge, how are people going to do that if they see you acting and speaking contrary to our godly commandments? Titus 2:6–8 reminds us… (6) Likewise, exhort the young men to be sober-minded, (7) in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, (8) sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you… The things you say, decisions you make, and the attitude you have will deliver a positive or negative impact on those around you. It is vital that we decide to deny self, and pick up our cross daily.
God Wants To Bless You Daily
Matthew 6:33 promises us… (33) But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you… All these things shall be added to you, what things? All of the things we have need of! That leaves us in a tough position, does it not? If we want the things we have need of, we must make a decision to follow Him each day, after all, why would He deliver His promises to someone that is not following Him?
Closing Thoughts:
Wake up… choose Jesus… repeat.
John 8:12 (NKJV)
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
