Perfect Timing

Romans 8:25 ESV

25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

The lord’s timing is perfect. Whether we like it or not, His timing is better than our own. We may have our own idea of how and when things should happen, but the Bible tells us that His thoughts are not like our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8). There are things we probably won’t understand until we get to heaven, but what the Bible is clear about is that we can trust God during the unknown.

If we’re waiting on the job we want, the raise we want, the house, the child, the healing, the spouse, the breakthrough, the salvation of a loved one, it can feel like we’ve been waiting forever. Days have gone by, weeks, months, and maybe even years, yet we’re in the same place we were. It can seem like people who aren’t following the Lord are getting their way around you, while you are stuck waiting.

However, I want to encourage you that we can trust the Lord to fulfill His plan in His perfect timing. Sarah and Abraham are a good example of this. In Genesis 15:5, God tells Abraham his descendants will be as numerous as the stars. At the time of this promise, Abraham didn’t even have any children yet. In fact, he didn’t have this child that God promised with his wife Sarah until 25 years after this promise was made!

It’s no wonder that Sarah got tired of waiting and ten years in told Abraham he needed to have a child with their servant instead. She was discouraged and thought this would be the only way for Abraham to have a child. You may find yourself in the same boat. Sometimes it’s hard for us not to take it into our own hands while waiting on God. Patience is very difficult. Of course, God forgives us when we do this, but my point is we can trust Him no matter how long we’ve been waiting.

Closing thoughts:

God has good things in store for you and He wants to give you the desires of your heart. Sometimes the waiting is a period where God is preparing something or perhaps it’s a period where faith is growing deeper in your heart. It is important to read scripture and water the roots of our faith during these times. When our faith roots run deep and strong, we become immovable when hard times or waiting periods come our way. Let us not fall away, but lift our praises even higher.

Psalm 37:7-9 ESV

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.

Galatians 6:9 ESV

9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
