Romans 12:2 NIV
2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Do you ever wonder what God’s will is for your life? What he wants you to do in certain moments?
Once we are saved, God desires to renew our minds as well. He desires to give us a new life with better quality. He guides us out of the patterns of this world and breaks the chains we were once stuck in. God starts this transformation when we set our eyes on things from above and not things of this world that are temporary and fade away. When our eyes are focused on him, we can see the situations we’re in with a brand-new light.
Scripture tells us that with our renewed minds we can know His perfect will for our lives. What do you picture a renewed mind to be? One that is focused on the Lord? Free from anxiety? Free from addiction? Depression? Deceit?
Romans 8:6 (NIV) says… The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
The easiest way to set our eyes on heavenly things and come to know God’s will is to get into scripture every day and open our hearts in prayer. When we know what the scriptures say, it becomes easier to recall them in times of need and to know what His will would be. When we open our hearts to the change God wants to perform, we become the clay and God the potter. He will change us like we never could’ve imagined and allow us to see His will like never before.
Isaiah 64:8 (NIV) Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.
Closing thoughts:
Sometimes the process hits a roadblock when we struggle with perspective or we put our fleshly desires first. It is human. I have discovered that the change may simply start with humbling ourselves and praying for the desire to want the change God has for us. Let Him mold us to think and see the way He wants us to. Our old life will become brand new.
Matthew 6:19-21 NIV
19 Do not store up for yourselves treasure on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matthew 16:26 NIV
26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?
