Truth & Transparency

Genesis 3:8

They heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

Adam and Eve lived with God in the Garden of Eden, everything they needed was freely provided, with only one restriction. Adam was asked not to eat from the "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil." Genesis 2:17 When at a certain time, the serpent came to Eve and deceived her, making it appear that God was holding out on them; Eve was easily deceived and she partook of the forbidden fruit and she shared it with her husband as noted in John 3:6.

How often have we been deceived by the seductions of the world, and when it happens, do we hide, hoping that God didn't see what we've done? It was foolish of Adam and Eve to think that God didn't know the details of what had happened well before He came looking for them in the garden. It is equally as foolish when we hide or shy away from God when we have fallen short of His desires for us.

Like Adam and Eve while in the garden, we are given all that we need from God, with only one request. He asks us to accept His gift of salvation which is freely given to us, through the blood of Jesus Christ which was shed for our sins. Jesus died on a tree at Calvary so that we may have eternal life with our Father in heaven. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

Accepting this precious gift from God provides us with a renewed spirit and while we're here on earth, we're given an abundance of spiritual gifts to guide us and protect us from all evil. God promises us in Philippians 4:6-7, that (6) He is at hand, He keeps us from being anxious about anything, He calls us to pray and to offer thanksgiving, letting our requests be known to Him, and the best part of all, (7) He gives us His peace which surpasses all comprehension, and He guards our hearts and minds through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We are asked to bring our sins to God, to confess them, to repent, which is to turn away from the desires of our flesh, from our pride, and to protect our eyes from earthly lusts which do not come from the Father but from the world, as noted in John 2:16 God knows all that the world has to offer is fleeting, it leaves us empty, and it's wages is death, both spiritually and physically. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Closing Thoughts

God reminds us in Luke 8:17... For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out in the open... This could be a little disconcerting knowing that no matter what we're doing, God knows and sees it all. However, God is merciful, ready to forgive us, willing to hear our plea for restoration, and quick to provide a right relationship with Him when we have a contrite heart.

John 3:21

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the Light, so that his deeds may be seen plainly, that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
